In 2023 alone, Acta Non Verba served hundreds of youth in the City of Oakland utilizing various strategies to truly affirm youth and childhood in Oakland and beyond:
- Hands-On Learning: Acta Non Verba provides opportunities for children and youth to actively engage with the natural world through farming and gardening. This hands-on experience fosters a deeper connection to the environment and helps them develop a sense of responsibility and stewardship for the land.
- Educational Programs: The organization offers educational programs that teach youth about sustainable agriculture, nutrition, and healthy eating habits. By educating youth about the food system and where their food comes from, Acta Non Verba empowers them to make informed choices about their diet and health.
- Empowerment: Acta Non Verba empowers youth by giving them responsibilities on the farm. Youth are involved in all aspects of farming, from planting and harvesting to selling produce at our BeetBox CSA, partner restaurants and at Farmers Markets. This hands-on involvement helps build their self-confidence and a sense of accomplishment.
- Inspiration for Future Careers: Acta Non Verba introduces youth to potential career paths in agriculture, community organizing, culinary and other related fields. By exposing them to these opportunities, it broadens their horizons and provides inspiration for their beautiful, JUST future.
Acta Non Verba: Youth Urban Farm Project affirms youth and childhood in Oakland, CA, and beyond by providing them with opportunities for personal growth, education, empowerment, and community engagement through urban farming. The organization's holistic approach helps young people develop valuable life skills and a strong sense of connection to the environment and their community.💜
